After how many more time the meaning will be clear?
In the sky a plane left its tracks on a white cloud
If I could fly freely like that too who will be the next one?
That's not possible...

“Eeh!” Yoko exclaimed as he peered over Ryo’s shoulder, straight at the piece of paper in the younger idol’s hands. “You’re writing about Yamapi and Jin-kun for your next solo?”

All of Eito, the active ones at least, are currently in their greenroom, as they waited for and prepared for their meeting with the higher ups of the jimusho for the proposal for their next album. The album is already a guarantee actually, what needed to be discussed was the date of release, the promotions and all those stuff that most of them would really consider as mundane. Except that Hina had convinced all of them that they needed to be involved with those kinds of things. And more to stop Hina from endlessly talking them into it really and consequently breaking their eardrums, they all decided to agree.

One thing that’s also guaranteed would be the solos. They’ve already been informed that they’d have a limited time available which is why they agreed that some would do group songs while the others could do their solos. It’s been decided that he and Subaru gets to have the solo slots.

“The hell are you talking about?” Ryo growled, jumping in surprise at the sudden voice ringing in his ears. He never noticed Yoko hovering over him, especially since he was so focused into writing his song.

“What?” Maruyama exclaimed, snatching the paper away from Ryo’s eyes before he even knew it and started reading through what he had already written. The others, getting interested had all decided to sneak a peek too as they surrounded Hina.

“You’re talking about leaving on your next solo?” Yasuda asked in surprise, looking straight at Ryo after reading the first few lines.

“Give me that!” Ryo all but growled as he tried to reach for the piece of paper. He didn’t immediately succeed though, what with he being one of the youngest in that group and the fact that there are six of them and only one of him. The piece of paper travelled from one hand to the other as they tried to avoid his grasp but then it ended in Yasuda’s hands and Ryo managed to grab it from the guy.

“No, I think he’s talking about not being able to leave,” Yasuda said, tilting his head as though trying to recall what he had read in that brief moment the paper was in his hands.

“Wait, you want to leave?” Hina asked as all six turned to Ryo questioningly.

It was a rather raw spot, for anyone in the room really, even though it was only Ryo who had the misfortune of having to make the choice. After all, they are reminded of how it felt for them when Uchi couldn’t come back to their group.

“Of course not!” Ryo exclaimed in exasperation but then all six pairs of eyes continued to look at him with varying degrees of worry, apprehension, sadness, and slight hints of hurt and all he could do but roll his eyes. “Don’t be idiots guys!” he exclaimed before marching out of the room.

It was silence that immediately followed the closing of the door before Subaru turned to Ohkura and asked “He ever told you anything about this?”

“No,” Ohkura shook his head. “We better ask Uchi though,” he added as he whipped out his phone.

“Yeah,” Subaru sighed. “I guess you’re right.”

If you leave something here, here it'll stay
I will protect it so that nobody will steal it

“I heard you scared the guys earlier today,” Uchi greeted the moment Ryo entered his apartment.

His appearance didn’t surprise him, nor did his question. He had given Uchi a copy of his house key after a few times of waking up in the middle of a short but deep sleep because he was outside. And he had a feeling that the others would be calling his best friend after he walked out on them earlier like that.

He didn’t mean to, not really. He just wasn’t prepared to explain to them what the song meant, and who it may be for, not when he’s not yet finished with it.

“What are you doing here?” he still pretended to ask as he removed his coat. “Don’t you have a play to rehearse for?”

“We’re on a break,” Uchi said dismissively. “So, about that song…”

“I’m not writing about leaving, or not being able to leave, or any variations of that!” Ryo cried flat out before Uchi starts to go down the same route the others had gone down to.

“Okay!” Uchi chuckled, raising his hands as a sign of defeat. “I’ll tell the others that.”

Ryo smiled, feeling relieved at the fact that his best friend had accepted that and didn’t look like he was going to pursue to issue any further. Depositing his bag on the chair, he looked around before telling the guy “You have better made something good for crashing here again this time.”

Uchi snorted, “With what you had on your fridge, you’re lucky I was able to scrape up something! There’s soup on the table.”

“Nice!” he exclaimed, rubbing his hands and turning to the kitchen. “I’m hungry, you ate already?”

“Yep,” Uchi nodded but still headed for the kitchen just the same. “By the way, I saw that rice bowl Sawajiri Erika-san gave you before. I didn’t know you were keeping it.”

“W-What?!” Ryo doubled back in surprise. When Uchi simply looked at him with a raised eyebrow, he added “Oh, you meant the rice bowl. Well, it was still usable, I didn’t consider throwing it out.”

“Even with the few chinks on the edges?” Uchi asked, rather meaningfully in Ryo’s ears, not that Ryo could trust his ears or his judgment when his heart started to beat uncontrollably fast.

“Like I said, it’s still good,” he simply chose to say.
-----
"Things with no shape remain in memory better"
You said that and I know it well
Every time I close my eyes I can see your smile

Ryo had just finished washing the dishes (it may be his house but Uchi did cook) when his eyes caught sight of the rice bowl Uchi was referring to earlier. The guy was right, it really had a few chinks along the edges already but he just couldn’t get himself to throw it away. Not that he always uses it either.

If anything, it’s the memory that came with the bowl that he couldn’t seem to let go.

Erika had given him that rice bowl some time before their shoot for One Liter of Tears ended. It was a rather unconventional gift, to an idol no less, and he told her that cheekily.

“It’s the thought that counts,” Erika had winked at him back then, rendering him speechless.

He couldn’t help but smile at the memory, smile at the recollection of her face. She had always looked beautiful to him. And for every moment he blinks, it is that memory of hers that always surfaces.
-----
So that you won't get lost, so that you will find me easily
So that you'll never be lonely
I'll be there.

He always stops by the swing at that park before he goes to work, always. Even if he stays there for just a minute or two, he would always drop by.

It had no promise connected to it really. No, no promise or pledge. But the place does hold quite significance to him, to the them in the past. He wouldn’t even be thinking she’d go back there, but deep in his heart, he can’t help but hope that some time, she would appear. She always used to.

Back then, whenever the shoot is on a break and they’d get about an hour or two of free time, he and Erika would always snuck out of the site and head there. It wasn’t really for a date or something like that. They just wanted to relax and Erika had said she always felt relaxed when she’s on the swings. It makes her feel like she could fly.

He’s always remember how she cheered whenever he pushes her high and if he closes his eyes, it’s almost as if he could hear her laugh.

But the recollection was cut short when he heard his phone rang. It was actually his alarm. He had set it so time wouldn’t pass him by. Sighing, Ryo shook his head and smiled lightly before he turned around and headed to his car in a hurry. He had his head down.

A few meters away from him and heading to the opposite direction, a woman wearing a coat, high heels and large sunglasses walked. At the precise moment their paths would have crossed had they been walking directly towards each other, the woman stopped on her heels and turned around, as if sensing something. When her eyes caught sight of Ryo’s back, she was momentarily aback, noting how familiar it was.

But then she shook her head and told herself that it was impossible. Ryo wouldn’t be heading there. He had no reason to. She then headed straight to the swing.

Reaching her intended location, she removed her glasses and took in the sight. Sawajiri Erika couldn’t help but smile.

And in the back of her mind, something is nagging her, telling her that the guy really did look eerily like Nishikido Ryo.

Scarecrow, even if my colors are fading
Scarecrow, I'll still be here, right?

“So, I’m guessing we all received that message from Uchi last night?” Hina asked as one by one, the members of Eito, except Ryo who’d be coming in late because of a shoot, entered the greenroom.

“Yep,” Yasuda nodded as he deposited his bag on the table and extracted his DS. Yoko did the same, except that it’s his phone he extracted.

“Ryo’s not leaving. He’s waiting,” he read from his phone.

“What is he waiting for?” Maruyama asked. “I kept asking myself that the whole night.”

“Yeah, me too,” Yasuda agreed as Yoko nodded.

“I think that would be a ‘who’, and the easier question would be who left?” Ohkura smiled. “And we all know the answer to that question.”

The look that dawned on the faces of the six men there said it all.

“You think he still loves her?” Subaru asked no one in particular.

Hina shrugged. “We’ll never know until he says so himself.”

“We can all just guess when his solo gets finished,” Yoko added.

“We really should stop doing this,” Erika gasped, still catching her breath, as he collapsed next to her on the bed, their bodies still sweaty, their skins still tingly of the exercise the two of them just had.

“Yeah,” Ryo replied coolly as he tried to catch his breath too, not affected by the words the woman had just uttered, not as much as he should be at least, especially just after what the two of them did.

But it affected him the first time, that’s for sure. And after it affected him, they did stop seeing each other and pretty soon he heard that she had married some other guy. She left the country too at one point but then she returned with the news of her divorcing her husband. And now, here they are.

“You’re not taking this seriously,” Erika exclaimed, her voice sounding angry or should sound angry but her body is still to recover the energy that Ryo had drained from her. She did have energy enough though to turn around and face him, dragging with her the blanket that was her only cover. “I’m serious, we should stop doing this.”

“Why?” Ryo asked, void of any emotion.

“Why?!” Erika exclaimed, slowly getting hysterical. “Because I’m still married, that’s why!”

“So?” Ryo shrugged dismissively. “Besides, you’re getting divorced.”

Erika gritted her teeth, her jaws clenching at how coolly Ryo is reacting to his words. “I haven’t submitted the papers yet,” she ended up spitting out.

“Good for him,” Ryo simply snorted before he turned to his side and showed his back to her.

“Don’t turn your back to me!” Erika hissed angrily, pulling on to him until he rested on his back again. When Ryo looked directly at her though, she was taken aback. There was something akin to steel in his eyes.

“What do you want me to say?” he asked testily.

“I don’t know!” Erika cried, her voice still sounding angry although her resolve was shattered the moment she looked into his eyes.

Between the two of them, it’s almost always Erika who gets more testy, the one who gets heated even over the most mundane of things. Ryo would almost always act cool. Except that when he isn’t Erika would always find herself at loss for words.

“Just say something,” she ended up saying as she laid back on her back again. “Anything.”

Ryo didn’t say anything at first, he simply lay there next to her. But he sure wasn’t sleeping. She could hear it from his breath. And before she knew it, Ryo had turned around but this time, not to turn his back to her but to hover over her. And the steel that was evident in his eyes earlier was replaced by heat.

Not the good kind of heat that would result to another of their more rigorous activities but the angry kind. Ryo wasn’t just angry. He was annoyed.

“Let me get this clear,” he said as he looked straight into her eyes. “You came to me. You returned to Japan. You showed up in front of me. You were the one who came back, not me! You were the one who came to my apartment. I didn’t invite you! You! Not me! So if you want us to stop, then stop. Just leave!”

Erika held her breathe as she listened to Ryo’s rather long diatribe. To be honest, she did more than that, she held her tongue back as her jaws started to clench and her throat constricted. She kind of felt hurt, she felt like she wanted to cry.

But she wasn’t going to cry. Not yet at least.

“Would you want me to leave?” she managed to ask him in a very small voice.
-----

Ryo almost wanted to hit his head when he heard her say that. He wanted to growl.

Actually, even before she said that, he had half a mind to take back what he said the moment he saw how her eyes watered. But he held himself back. He needed to make a few things clear between the two of them. He needed to know that he wasn’t just Sawajiri Erika’s past time. He needed to show that he is strong.

But the moment he heard her say those words, noted how her throat seemed constricted, he knew he’s fighting a losing battle. For the moment at least.

Groaning, he captured her lips.

But it wasn’t for a sweet, soothing kind of kiss. It was hot, demanding, aggressive. He was taking with no concern whatsoever whether she’s willing or not.

But Erika is willing. She kissed him back, as fiercely as he kissed her, her hands encircling around his neck to pull him closer to her. And soon the kiss changed tempo, Ryo changed the kiss’ tempo as it started to slow down, become some sort of a whisper, a caress.

And then it ended. Ryo had raised his head.

“If you want to stop, let’s stop now,” he said in a rather labored voice. “I’m not going to stop you. Just tell me what you want me to do.”

“No,” Erika whispered softly but to Ryo it was as though it was a shout, he almost felt his heart jump. And then Erika’s arms tightened around his neck and pulled him to her once again, this time, Erika initiating the kiss.

The moment their lips met, Ryo lost all train of thought except the fact that kissing her felt right. It still felt right.
-----

It was hours after but Ryo still lay awake as Erika held on to him, the girl entering a deep slumber. He simply lay there with Erika’s arm hugging him over his chest and his over her shoulder. He just couldn’t get himself to sleep.

“Hmmmm, Ryo…” he heard her mutter and he raised his head a bit to see if Erika had awoken. But Erika is still deep in his sleep and Ryo couldn’t help but smile.

It felt great hearing and thinking that it’s still him she sees in her dreams.

“I will not tell you I love you,” he whispered to her ears as she burrowed herself deeper in his arms. “Not just yet. Because you need to know yourself that you love me first. But I can wait. I know I can wait,” he said before kissing her on the forehead.

Erika groaned appreciatively as she tightened her hold around him. Ryo could only smile as he finally closed his eyes.

to [livejournal.com profile] whitechocomocca, honestly, this fic didn't take as long as the one above but i needed to make sure that the two fics would have a different tone and flow from the other (and the first versions of the first fic was rather similar to this one) which is why this had to wait... hope you like it...

comments/critics are very much welcomed... :)
