i love this wedding news!!!

TITLE: Wedding Witness
CHARACTERS: Oguri Shun, Yamada Yu, Ohno Satoshi, Sakurai Sho, Aiba Masaki, Ninomiya Kazunari, Matsumot Jun, Inoue Mao, Ikuta Toma
GENRE: RL
RATINGS: PG
DISCLAIMER: The only thing i own in this story is the plot...
SUMMARY: March 14th is a very, very special day...
AUTHOR'S NOTES: first part is written mostly as some sort of intro and because I could not NOT write them in! also, because generally, i just had fun writing this fic! Also, the Toma!appearance may be in-light of Toma's recent Shiyagare guesting... And oh! this may also be known with the alternative title I Call Dibs~! hopefully you'll get what i mean after you read...

"Jun's still not here?"

The question rang in the air, breaking the silence that unusually resides in the room that's generally filled with noise and laughter of one sort or the other. Three pairs of eyes looked up with varying expressions to meet the questioning ones that are Aiba's.

"Why?" Sho asked.

Technically speaking, it shouldn't really be a big deal if one of them suddenly pipes up and wonder where another one is, especially considering that in more ways than one, they have transcended mere group mate status. Some would call them friends; others would say they're family. As for them, well, they prefer not giving what they have together a name. It's easier that way. And much less confusing too! Besides, it doesn't really matter much what they name themselves as long as they are together.

But just for that moment, well, for the day actually, Aiba wondering about where their youngest is is a cause of concern, considering the occasion and all that.

"Just wondering," Aiba shrugged, trying to put off the curiosity that had risen even in Nino's eyes.

"Oh really..." Nino replied, obviously not believing Aiba’s words

Sho though, eager to not have to go between another of the two younger men’s more debates (because Ohno’s smarter than him in that regard, to not get involved between Nino and Aiba’s more irrelevant debates), spoke up to divert the conversation.

“It’s the 14th after all,” he said. “March 14. We all know what today is.”

Based on how Nino’s eyes immediately darted to Sho’s, he knew that he had successfully grabbed Nino’s attention away from Aiba. Too successful, Sho thinks.

“So?” Nino replied, one of his eyebrows up. “Years ago, that would have mattered, not now,” he added with a smirk he had not entirely successfully managed to hide rising to his lips.

Before Sho, or even Aiba whose attention has already been caught by Sho’s words too, could say anything, the one other occupant of the room spoke up, surprising everyone that he was actually listening to the conversation and not simply spacing around.

“Huh?” Ohno said, looking wildly at the three of them. “Why? Did I miss something?”

Sho smiled as he shook his head, assuring their eldest. “This one I’m sure you didn’t miss,” he said. “Nino’s referring to Mao.”

Nino’s smirk widened to a grin. “Yep. And the fact that he and she seemed to have settled back to a very comfortable ‘just friends’ phase.”

Years ago, and really, years ago it was, Matsumoto Jun and Inoue Mao engaged in some sort of a ‘will they or won’t they’ kind of a relationship. Jun never exactly said anything about him liking Mao and Mao never really did say anything about her liking him either. It was rather like, he acknowledged she’s special, she admitted that he’s different from anyone else. And the two of them settled to some sort of a mutual understanding that neither party really did understood much.

Oh, but sparks flew and flew they did! Everyone saw that, even Nino, much to his grimace.

But after a while, and when the two of them started not seeing the other as often as they used to, things seemed to have settled to a more normal pacing. She went her way and he went his, and after a while, everything ‘settled’. There is still that ‘something’ between them, so to speak, something that would be very visible especially when the two of them meet, and every now and then, the two of them end up meeting, considering both their circle of friends and the projects they end up taking.

“If I didn’t know better,” Sho started jokingly. “I’d say you sound happy that Jun and Mao didn’t take the next level.”

“Yeah,” Aiba added, a grin on his lips as Ohno looked on interestedly, “it’s as if you’re little crush on Mao wasn’t so little after all.”

“Well, aren’t we glad you all know better?” Nino asked, a sweet, comfortable smile on his lips but a mischievous and somehow dark gleam visible in his eyes. Sho and Aiba looked at each other knowingly as Ohno fought back a giggle.

“And, as I was saying,” Nino continued as though the brief exchange about his personal opinion on the matter had not just happened, “White day doesn’t take as much precedence in Jun’s life anymore, not when he no longer feels the obligation of giving back, no matter the fact that he received something from her again a month ago.”

Nino said those words in his most passive and completely unaffected tone but the three pairs of ears in the room caught otherwise. Jun did receive something from Mao on Valentines, they all did. After recently working together for Kohaku and the fact that they’re all friendly with her, it was as though the package is an expected arrival on the 14th of February.

And while they really did not compare those kinds of things to one another, everyone could see at a glance that Jun’s was just a tad bit different from the rest of theirs. And it wasn’t even about the size or the packaging.

None of them can say if it’s the first time in years Jun received a chocolate from the woman. They don’t talk about those things. But for the past few years since ‘things settled down’ between him and Mao, Jun didn’t really seem to fuss too much about White day anymore, and, as far as proof provides, nothing has changed that yet.

Bur Sho shook his head at Nino’s words, much to everyone else’s surprise.

“I’m not talking about White day,” he told them. “It’s the 14th. It’s Oguri Shun and Yamada Yu’s wedding.”

“Oh, yeah…” Aiba nodded, realization flickering in his eyes.

“I heard something of that sort somewhere,” Ohno added vaguely.

“And since his best friend is registering his marriage now, where else would Jun most likely be?” Sho added, a little all-knowingly.

“Oh yeah, I almost forgot,” Nino shrugged, positively passive now. “I guess he’s going to be one of their witnesses,” he added as he relaxed.

“Wonder if Mao’s going to be there too,” Aiba wondered aloud and Nino, as if on cue, straightened up at the name of the woman. Aiba ended up with a huge, mischievous grin. “Since she’s friends with Shun too, she might also be there.”

Nino started pouting at this and the action, if anything else, triggered Sho to catch on. “Yeah,” Sho said “it must feel kind of weird if the two of them are there as witnesses to Shun and Yu’s wedding. Wilder fans would even consider it prophetic,” he added teasingly.

“Yeah,” Aiba added. “Like maybe, Jun and Mao are next on the marriage line.”

Nino was completely prepared to brush off the comments as some of Sho and Aiba’s more ridiculous ideas but then Ohno spoke up and Nino couldn’t help but scowl.

“Huh?” started Ohno earnestly. “It’d be interesting to see that day come.”

Aiba tried his best to not giggle too loud while Sho failed in fighting back a hopeful smile.

“I have a pen, Jun doesn’t!” Toma said, raising said object, as he stood next to a very blooming Yu with Jun on her other side. The three of them had already arrived at the small room where they were directed to for the quick ceremony of Shun and Yu’s union.

“Doesn’t change anything,” Yu replied with a smile that does not entirely have anything to do with whatever Toma is talking about. In fact, Toma may even start howling in tears there and it wouldn’t change a thing. Yu’s absolutely radiating with a different kind of glow.

“Don’t be silly,” Jun snorted at Toma quite gloatingly. “They’re providing the pen, you didn’t need to bring one.”

Toma pouted. “This is unfair!” he declared. “Why does Jun get to sign on your marriage certificate as a witness and I don’t? I mean, I was with you guys during New Years!”

Yu didn’t reply, and maybe, she really didn’t have to because Jun replied “Maybe because you were there with them during New Years?”

Before Toma could say anything in reply, the door opened making all three occupants of the room turn towards it.

First through the door is an official, possibly the marriage officiator, followed by two more people, possibly assistants for the service. And then, finally, Shun came through the door with Mao and Maki in each of his arms.

The smile that lit Yu’s face was mirrored by that of Shun’s as the two of them met half way. The smile wasn’t a wide one, or a huge one, but it’s possibly glowing, beaming, bathing everyone in the room with something close to brightness. Each and every one of them seemed entranced with the sight of the couple except that for a split-second, Toma’s vision was caught by something else.

Maybe it was a side-effect of Yu and Shun’s respective glows but Jun and Mao looked like they’re glowing too as they stood on either side of the couple. Noticing that Maki too seemed to notice the same thing, Toma smiled.
-----

“Don’t mess it up,” Shun chuckled heartily as the marriage officiator called for the witnesses to step forward and sign on the papers that would legally bind Shun and Yu together.

Shun and Yu had just finished signing in their names actually, the ceremony being just a really quick and relatively orthodox one, and the two of them had just stepped back, with Shun’s arm over Yu’s waist and Yu’s own over his. There was a huge happy smile on their faces as they watched Mao and Jun stepped forward towards the table.

As though knowing, and for good measure too, that Shun is referring to him, Jun snorted good-naturedly “How am I supposed to mess up a signature. You’re the one who should not mess this one up!”

Shun waved at him dismissively as the rest of the people in the room tried their best not to chuckle, Yu was fighting back a laughter herself as she leaned closer to her husband.

“Here,” Mao said as she straightened up, handing Jun the pen she had used to sign in as a witness.

“Thanks,” Jun replied taking the pen from her and bowing down to sign himself.

No one said a word as he did, each and every one of them aware that his is the last signature needed to make everything completely official. The moment he straightened up, they all started clapping as every one of them turned to Shun and Yu, beaming greetings and well wishes.

“Congratulations Oguri Shun and Oguri-Yamada Yu!”

Shun stood there, smiling, looking over them happily and proudly, his hand still on his wife’s waist. Yu radiated with a smile.

Jun started wolf-whistling at his best friend making Toma chuckle at what Jun is asking the newly married couple to do. Shun happily obliged with a not-so-quick kiss on Yu’s lips.

The cheering continued even after the kiss ended as Shun and Yu, the latter having a wonderful blush add to her glow, ended the kiss. The marriage officiator had already gathered the papers on the table for filing, handing Jun a copy which would be later on handed to Shun and Yu. As Jun turned around to accept, Mao turned too to watch.

It was at this point that Toma felt Maki nudging his side.

“Now there’s another sight to behold,” Maki said mischievously as she nodded past Shun and Yu and towards Jun and Mao. “Who’d have thought that looking like this, they’re just friends?”

Toma looked at her briefly after this before he turned back to the said sight and smiled.

“I call dibs!” he suddenly announced as they all stepped forward to greet the new husband and wife.

When they were all heading out of the room for the wedding reception (which will never, ever be considered as a small one, no matter the case), Maki, who was behind Shun and Yu turned to Toma and asked curiously “What did you mean when you said ‘I call dibs’ earlier?”

“Oh,” Toma smiled. “For Jun and Mao’s wedding, I’m calling dibs as one of the wedding witnesses!”

Mao, who was walking right next to Maki, obviously heard everything but pretended not to have heard as she continued walking although her ears had just red.

Right next to Toma though, Jun was not one to not say a word.

“Idiot,” he reprimanded Toma, or so his words were supposed to, except that it doesn’t. “Mao and I are just friends.”

Toma grinned as Maki giggled. “Whatever! I still call dibs!”
-----THE END-----

this was written in a hurry and in my sleep deprived state so pardon the silliness and senseless-ness of it...

Jun-kun, you lie! :D

Thank you for sharing this adorable fic! I guess this fandom is hoping pretty much the same thing. Since Shun has gone the marriage route, Jun and Mao should follow suit. I don't know what's keeping them, anyway. But! I will sit here and patiently wait until that day.

In the meantime, Happy White Day! :D

What can I say but it was another awesome read from you.

These guys no matter what the outcome is they were there to witness Shun's marriage and not only that but to even think and see how Jun and Mao would be. Just like RL I want dips to as quoted by Toma on Jun's and Mao's wedding. *wishful thinking*

[identity profile] angelshill.livejournal.com 2012-04-04 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
a late reply is a late reply but still, thanks!
i'm glad you enjoyed it...
and yeah, let's all join together and wish that in the very near future, the wedding news we're going to read about would be for our OTPs! :D

[identity profile] angelshill.livejournal.com 2012-04-04 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
it's all right? i understood what you meant.. :)
lol! the thing about the pairings ending up married in real life had also been mentioned before... all i can say is, i am not trying to be prophetic or anything, i just write what suddenly comes to mind, jinxmeisa for example. lol!
though to be honest, i only started writing oguri shunxyamada yuu after i watched her somewhere and found out that the two of them are a couple in real life. i actually think they look really good together!
as for junxmao, we are all hoping that'd be the case... seriously! i'm keeping my fingers crossed and waiting patiently for that day to arrive.

thanks very much! :)
