TITLE: Sho's Dilemma
CHARACTERS: Sakurai Sho, Fukuda Kyoko, Ohno Satoshi, Aiba Masaki, Ninomiya Kazunari, Matsumoto Jun
PAIRING: Sho/Kyoko (main); Ohno/Kobayashi, Aiba/Becky, Nino/Masami, Jun/Mao (implied; towards the end)
RATINGS: PG
DISCLAIMER: The only thing i own in this story is the plot...
AUTHOR'S NOTE: written because i'm highly amused by Sho's recent rumors...

“I can not believe this!” Sho cried in exasperation, reentering the stuff toy filled living room after a quick run to the convenience store nearby to buy a few papers.

He, as well as the rest of Arashi, had been awarded a string of free mornings from any schedule, an award they all referred to as “the calm before the storm” since they knew that their practices for Kohaku (which takes most of their afternoons already) would take up their whole days in the next two weeks or so. So while Aiba practices bartending skills for his newest drama, he decided to spent his free time just relaxing (knowing that he wouldn’t have much chance to do it when the holiday kicks into high gear). That thought flew out of his mind though upon seeing that ‘newest’ article featuring him.

“I seriously can not believe it!” he exclaimed, dropping the newspapers he’d brought.

“What?” Kyoko asked curiously, turning around to face him from where she lay idly at the sofa. “Why do you sound so angry all of a sudden?”

“I’m not angry!” he objected although his voice was still a tad bit strong, sitting by her feet as she curled up to a sitting position, peaking through the adorable mess that was her hair. “I’m just… I don’t know… Annoyed, I guess?” he added after a couple of breaths.

“Sure you are…” she said, humoring him. “Now, what is it that the just-annoyed-and-seriously-not-angry-idol boyfriend of mine is disturbed about now?”

Sho turned to face her, a pout quite visible in his face, but was gradually erased after a few seconds of him gazing at her beautiful face.

“You’re cute in the morning…” he chuckled out of the blue.

“I’m always cute…” Kyoko objected, chuckling a bit. “But you haven’t answered my question. What’s wrong this time?”

Sho sighed, leaning on the backrest of the sofa as he looked up at the ceiling, his hand simply pointing at the stack of newspapers he just left on the table. With an eyebrow raised, Kyoko reached out at the topmost paper, just so she could appease her confusion. When Sho suddenly goes like that, meaning that he doesn’t want the words coming out from his mouth, she knew that it was pointless to force him. Besides, he already pointed towards what could answer her question so she needn’t make him talk.

It took her a couple of minutes to actually locate the article that would interest her boyfriend amongst the articles printed on Shukan Josei, one of the relatively plenty papers she’d decided to not even glance at if not to annoy or amuse herself, depending on the situation. But when she did see it, the article, she couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow as she browsed through the words. After a while, she was trying her best not to chuckle.

“Awww…” she exclaimed, turning to Sho as she placed the paper back on the table. “My boyfriend’s a bad boy… I kind of feel proud… Finally, you’re shedding the good boy image…”

“What?!” Sho exclaimed, straightening up to look at her. “That’s all you’re going to say?”

Kyoko blinked a couple of times before she smiled. “What else did you expect me to say? That was old news, I’ve heard most of it already… As for the spitting and the glaring, we both know you wouldn’t even manage to do that even if someone suggests that you guys bungee jump from the Arashi jet while it’s on air…”

Sho was held speechless for a while, understanding his girlfriend’s logic, before he sighed once again.

“Still…” he started, pouting at the floor like a child.

“Still?” she asked, moving closer to him and pinching his chin to make him look at her.

Sho looked into her eyes for a couple of seconds before he sighed again.

“I don’t like that article!” he exclaimed.

“Wait…” Kyoko said, blinking. “I don’t get it… I think you don’t like the article for some other reason than the one I’m thinking of… Why don’t you like the article?”

“Because…” he started, looking at the floor again, this time pout mixed with an embarrassed blush.

“Because?” she prompted.

“Because Nino gets that juicy sex bunny scandal and I get this!” he cried. “I mean, what?! Don’t they think I’m capable of more than just that ridiculous anger mismanagement thing?!”

Kyoko remained silent for a while before he realized that she had to hold a hand over her mouth to stop herself from really laughing aloud. He couldn’t feel bad for it though, especially since he’s feeling quite a bit childish himself after he let that out.

He gave her a few moments to laugh all she liked though before he started poking her by the waist, her weak side, to divert her attention to something else (and mask the fact that he’s feeling a bit embarrassed and foolish at the same time).

“So…” Kyoko started, still trying to stifle her laughter as her hands tried to block his hands from her waist. “So you’re saying that you’re annoyed because they couldn’t cook up some ridiculous sex scandal for you?”

“Well… N—“ he started to object but sighed when she raised an eyebrow at him questioningly (and knowingly). “Yeah… A bit…” he said, closing his eyes in expectation of another round of laughter fit.

But the laughter did not arrive since what he felt instead was her breathe getting really close to his face. When he opened his eyes, he saw that they were just millimeters apart and that there was a twinkle in her eyes as she looked at him.

“That’s cute…” she said before closing the distance to give him one very sweet kiss.

Before he could react though, Kyoko had ended the kiss to tell him “But you do know though that when you come up with a sex scandal that isn’t with me, you’re dead, right?” she asked sweetly although there’s no mistaking the seriousness of what she just said.

“Of course…” Sho grinned, having already forgotten the article and his issue with it. His hand snaked to the back of her neck to angle her face for a longer, deeper kiss which would most probably progress to more as he laid her back on the sofa.

Else where in Tokyo…

A blanket-covered Nino is trying his best to stifle his laughter as he browsed through the article featuring his band mate, hoping not to wake up the equally-naked-under-the-blankets Masami sleeping next to him. They’ve all already resigned themselves to the fact that their being Kohaku hosts would trigger the fresh wave of ridiculous articles about them. His story has already been revealed (they only consider the “Nino is a sex bunny…” article to be the first since the others were revealed pre-Kohaku announcement and most probably was done simply because of their status at the moment and was not Kohaku related) and they’ve all been wondering what comes next.

He never expected Sho to come next though, and he never expected their Keio boy’s article to be that… lame! Well, it is lame, and Sho will be hearing a lot from him that while his scandal had been explosive, Sho’s had been the lamest one so far in their whole history. Really old and lame.

In a closed bar somewhere in Azabu…

“Sorry… Sorry… Sorry…” Aiba repeated again and again as he picked up the drink shaker he dropped on the counter for the nth time that morning, even more so since the shaker opened up and scattered all its contents on the newspaper the staff had thoughtfully covered the smooth counter with (thankfully, the contents was just water and ice).

Trying to stop the water from flowing to the floor, he caught sight of a familiar name on one of the wet newspapers. He didn’t stop to read though since no interesting words were connected to the name Sakurai Sho, unlike the previous one he’d read about Nino. Nino’s really gave him a good laugh.

Besides, he needed to focus on his training at the moment, he’s sure that Becky would manage to mention that in passing when they meet for lunch later. If not, he’s pretty sure any one of the other members would have read it by now and would mention it anywhere between their shooting for Himitsu until their practice for Kohaku that afternoon.
-----
In an art studio somewhere…

Ohno didn’t even notice that he’s picking up the newest batch of newspapers he had when he reached for a paper to wipe off his arm the paint that had stuck there. His recent visit with his family to New York inspired him to go back to drawing (coupled by the fact that he couldn’t go fishing that much at the moment anyway). This is the reason why he didn’t even see the familiar name, even as huge as it is, on the paper he just picked up.

His whole attention was on the canvass. Ryoko had been saying that she’d want to see him create a new piece of art lately, especially since he’s been focusing on fishing way too much, and he couldn’t help but feel excited that he could show her one at last. He wanted to make it special for her, and by the looks of it, it seems like it’s going to be one.
-----
In another apartment somewhere in Tokyo…

Jun simply sighed as he idly placed the Shukan Josei paper down to pick up his latest novel as he reclined on the sofa. He hadn’t really intended to be up that early but the moment Mao stood up beside him at the crack of dawn to prepare for her early morning shoot, he found himself awake too. This is why he decided to make most of his unexpected additional free time to browse through a few newspapers to update himself of the recent happenings in Japan.

That’s when he saw Sho’s scandal, if that piece of story could even be considered as a scandal. It was old news, to them anyway. They already knew all about Sho missing some anger management classes in the past, classes he made sure he’d caught up on through the years. He was actually a bit disappointed that that was all they could write about the guy after the spectacle that was Nino’s. But then again, Sho, like him, had been very careful not to be featured in any gossip or rumor story in the recent years, contributing to the writers’ inability to cook up something juicier for the guy.

For a split second, he thought what they’d be cooking up for him too, before deciding at that exact moment that he didn’t care. He had much better things to do with his time anyway. After all, he still has not decided on what’s the best gift he’d give his Hime for the season.

TITLE: Over The Wall: The Enraged Best Friend
CHARACTERS: Nishikido Ryo, Toda Erika, Uchi Hiroki (this chapter), with special mention of the rest of Eito and Yamapi
PAIRING: Ryo/Erika
RATINGS: PG
DISCLAIMER: The only thing i own in this story is the plot...
AUTHOR'S NOTE: Written because Uchi is amusing more than he should... Should have been longer too if i hadn't been distracted by a message i just received, along with the calls from my boardmates... Might also have a second part... Did just for fun...

Previous Chapters: An Annoying Older Brother,

“Hell hath no fury like a best friend scorned…”

The banging of the door to the wall should have told Ryo that the door to Kanjani8’s greenroom had opened to give way to the entry of his impending doom. The momentary silence that reigned in the place (instead of the noisy outrage that should have followed that action) should have given him ample warning too, including the eruption of noisy cheers and happy welcomes coming from the other 6 regular occupants of the room. Unfortunately, all these should haves and could haves didn’t happen since Ryo was stretched luxuriously on the sofa, his ears stuffed with earphones belting out his favorite music. And no one, not even in the other six Kanjani8 members, was insane enough to disturb him when he’s in that particular state.

Unfortunately, he forgot that there was actually one other person, who the rest of them still considers as part of the group (even if he’s now officially confirmed to not come back since he’s going solo), who can and will disturb him however way he pleases. It didn’t help his memory too, that that particular guy hadn’t been appearing much in the greenroom since, like him, he’s gotten really busy too.

That guy, however, was not to be ignored. The way he dropped his unimaginably heavy bag on his leg told him so.

“WHAT THE--!” he was about to curse when he jerked to his side, his legs feeling the pain of the sudden weight, ready to kill whoever would be the first person his eyes landed on.

But the murderous glare in his eyes was matched by the equally defiant and hurt look in his best friend’s face, Uchi Hiroki, and his eyes actually lost.

“Don’t you dare shout at me Nishikido Ryo!” Uchi exclaimed a bit tearfully.

The sight of his best friend immediately prompted him to sit up properly, making sure that the bag on his leg is set neatly on the side.

“What happened?” he asked, taking the earphones out of his ear as he tried to rack his brain of what he might have done to cause such a reaction from his closest friend, both within and outside the agency.

The pout on the still-feminine features on Uchi’s face told him he wouldn’t like what’s coming next though, along with the varying reactions from the other members: Maru was watching them openly with a huge grin on his lips, Hina was pretending not to watch them as he tried not to snicker behind his script book, Yasuda and Yoko had a harder time pretending not to listening in as they kept on darting entertained looks at them, Baru peeking through the small gap between his arms and his hair from where he was pretending to sleep at the table while Ohkura simply looking bored as he transferred the page of his magazine, waiting for the explosion to arrive. It almost made him want to wish that he’s at the NewS greenroom at the moment. At least in there, only Yamapi would be bold enough to actually show interest and watch.

Ryo took a quick glance at the clock and saw that there’s still a little less than an hour before their shoot resumes. He sighed. It’s going to be the longest less-than-one-hour hour of his life.
-----

“I can’t believe you never told me!” Uchi whined as he paced in front of Ryo.

The two of them are already at the rooftop, Ryo’s usual recluse when he really needs some sleep but couldn’t find it at the greenroom. He had pulled Uchi there since he knew that he wouldn’t be able to stop the guy’s anger and since he preferred to listen to his best friend’s rants without all 6 members listening in.

“I mean, I am your best friend, right?!” he continued. “So what’s with this no telling me thing going on! If I hadn’t heard it from Uekusa-san who heard it from Inocchi-kun, who heard it from Mabo-kun, who heard it from Taichi-kun, who heard it from Nakai-san, who heard it from Ohno-kun, who was one of those people Ninomiya-kun told personally, I wouldn’t have even found out!”

“It went that far already?” Ryo asked helplessly as he leaned over the pipe railings to look at the ground several meters down. He already knew that the Kanjani8 and NewS members have heard his recent 'news' and he knew that most of the members of the jimusho around their age already knew, he just didn't expect that even the elders would find out that fast. “I’m doomed.”

“Of course you are!” Uchi cried, hurt that Ryo doesn’t seem to notice nor care that he is hurt of the situation. “I hate you! Why didn’t you tell me that you and Toda Erika-chan are dating?!”

“Wh-What?!” Ryo stuttered, almost choking at his own saliva. The mere fact that his name and Erika’s name was used in the same sentence as ‘dating’ made it seem like all his blood rushed to his head. “We weren’t… That wasn’t… It’s all Ninomiya’s fault!” he ended up complaining.

Maybe because he hadn’t paid him proper attention earlier, or maybe because it’s the most normal reaction to those lines of his (since everyone from Kanjani8 and NewS who heard him complain had the same reaction), because Uchi, who had been looking like a jilted girlfriend earlier, suddenly looked at him with an eyebrow raised and quite a smug look.

Uchi went one step further though and pointed at him, shouting at the top of his lungs “You are so totally still into her!”

He was just about to open his mouth in an attempt to oppose but decided to close it after a split second. This only made Uchi laugh the more.

“Oh my god! You really are!” he exclaimed. “No wonder you were so excited for that dinner date!”

He felt his jaw drop at those words.

“I wasn’t excited! Ninomiya-kun made me go to that dinner! I didn’t even know she was going to be there too! Whatever Ninomiya-kun is telling everyone else is a lie!”

His attempt at defending himself sort of backfired though when Uchi simply grinned.

“So if you’d have heard that she’s going to be there then that’s the only time you’d be getting excited?!” he deduced. Seeing him gape at his deduction, Uchi shrugged. “What?! That was what you technically said!”

“Stop playing with my words!” Ryo complained.

“But it’s fun!” Uchi chuckled, obviously in a very good mood now. “Besides, I was just helping you express yourself properly since you seem to have trouble stringing up words and saying the proper sentences…”

Ryo groaned as he burrowed his head in his hands. It didn’t stop Uchi though.

“I even heard that Toda-san is still quite amused that you’re still not a talker even after a couple of years…” Uchi continued.

Those words caught his attention immediately though as he looked up from his hands.

“You know her personally?” he asked in amazement.

“Yeah…” Uchi nodded a-matter-of-factly.

“How?”

“What do you mean ‘how’?” Uchi exclaimed, a hand on his hips, staring at him again.

Ryo didn’t put much notice to that though as he elaborated “I mean, you never worked with her as far as I know. And that you weren’t around when she and Hina started… You know… So I never thought you’d know her personally…”

“Well, I have a co-star, who has this friend, who’s been working with Toda Erika-chan for a couple of times and…” Uchi explained. Midsentence though, he saw him gaping at the number of relationship involved before they actually met and he sighed. “What?!” he asked defensively. “I’m a very sociable person! Unlike someone I know…” he continued, eyeing him as an implication.

“I’m busy!” he exclaimed.

“So am I! But at least I still go out! Unlike my best friend who prefers to go home and wallow alone…” he said. “I still find it funny actually that you’re painted so much as a party person when you’d only go out if Jin-kun blackmailed you into going out…”

“I need to sleep…” he said weakly. The two of them had gone through that debate for more than just a couple times now and it just goes on circles and circles and he doesn’t have the energy to do that at the moment.

“No you don’t… You’re way past the age that sleeping makes you grow taller…” he chided. When Ryo turned to him with murderous eyes again, Uchi simply laughed it off (being one of the very rare few who could make that joke and not fear immediate incarceration). “Anyway, speaking of going out, clear your schedule for next Saturday…”

“Why?”

“Because I saw Toda Erika-chan earlier this morning and asked her to go out for dinner this Saturday… And you’re going to be there…” Uchi declared.

“What did you tell her?!” he cried in panic, getting on his feet for the first time since they got there.

“What am I supposed to tell her?!” Uchi asked back, looking at him incredulously. “I just asked her if it’s okay if we go out for dinner next Saturday!”

“And what did she say?”

“She said yes… What else was she supposed to say?!”

“Just like that?!” Ryo asked, still in disbelief.

Uchi shook his head and placed an arm over his shoulder before he threw back his head for a hearty laugh.

“My dear Nishikido Ryo… Some things are quite simple once you get enough courage to actually ask… And ask properly…” he told him in between chuckles.

Ryo sighed.

Sure he’d been planning on asking Erika out for dinner ever since that day he walked her to her door, but his mind will always come up with situations wherein she would say no.

Now his best friend has already asked her, in his behalf. He’s just not sure if it’s a good sign or not. At least this time, as compared to the first, he already knew she is going to be there so that he could prepare himself properly. And then there’s the fallback that if things wouldn’t turn out right, he could always say that he wasn’t even aware that Uchi had asked her for dinner in the first place.
